Our Wedding

They met at the Lunar New Year festival at the Fayetteville Public Library—easy conversation, instant laughs, and one tiny secret: he noticed her zipper was down and, very gallantly, kept quiet. The next day she went to his family’s house for hotpot (and genuinely thought it belonged to someone else). She wore her beloved Crocs; he loathed them enough to propose a chess wager: if he lost, he’d wear the Crocs; if she lost, she’d stop wearing them. He lost. He still refused to wear them and she liked him anyway. Before that first meeting, she had actually searched Facebook for a Burmese person in Arkansas and found his profile. First thought—thanks to that trying-to-look-cool photo: “This uncle looks mean.” She didn’t message him, met him at the library a few days later without realizing it was him, and only months later—after they finally traded Facebooks—did the plot twist land &amp; the truth comes out! They clicked. She loves books; he loves video games. She loves to cook; he loves to eat. She creates joyful messes; he tidies like a ninja. She loves to cuddle; he loves being the pillow. She loves being short; he loves that she’s short. She belts karaoke; he loves listening. Under fireworks, he asked her to be his girlfriend. A year of sweet things followed—new jobs, road-trip concerts, shopping runs, time flying. Then he flew to Germany for a friend’s wedding, missed her every day and night, and knew. He came home, bought a ring, and planned to propose on their very next trip. In Houston for a concert, he recreated Monica &amp; Chandler’s proposal—hotel room glowing with candles (she was “sent” to take a quick shower while he lit them)—and she said yes. One week later came a short-and-sweet courthouse “I do.” Why wait? Since then: grocery runs, weekend rotting and Sunday resets, Starbucks and boba runs, FRIENDS marathons, and last-minute concert road trips—LANY among many. Now it’s time to celebrate with the people who’ve cheered from the start. Bring hugs, best dance moves, and an appetite. He can’t wait; she can’t either.

A legit world-class art museum hiding in the woods. The buildings sit over the water (designed by Moshe Safdie), and you can wander galleries full of American art from colonial portraits to modern pieces, then walk nature trails and outdoor sculptures without ever leaving the property. General admission is free, so it’s an easy “let’s just go look around” plan.

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Crystal Bridges’ cool younger sibling. It’s a former cheese factory turned into a giant contemporary art / music / festival space with rotating exhibits, performances, and pop-up events. You can walk in, explore the art, grab a drink, and hang out. There’s even a rooftop bar with big views. It’s artsy, but not “whisper in the gallery” artsy.&nbsp;

The Momentary

This is at the Bentonville Square: super walkable, lots of public art, little shops, and the famous Walmart Museum and the original Sam Walton 5&amp;10, where you can see how Walmart started as a tiny dime store and turned into… Walmart. The museum includes throwback displays, local history, and small-town nostalgia, and guests say it’s surprisingly cute even if you don’t care about retail.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do stroll the square, peek in the museum, grab a treat nearby, and take photos under all the murals and neon signs from all the public art everywhere and it’s got a very “where it all started,” feel plus it’s super easy to explore without a car.

The Walmart Museum

Miles of bike/walking trails through the trees, little bridges, and a hidden open-air coffee bar (Airship) that you literally walk or bike to — no cars, just forest, swings, and iced coffee. It’s very “I’m outdoorsy now” with low effort. The preserve is known for mountain biking, camping spots, and chill hang areas, and the café sits right in the middle of it all.&nbsp;

Osage Park has boardwalks over wetlands, places to wander, and even archery and pickleball nearby. Right next door is Thaden Field, where you can watch small planes take off and check out cool vintage-style aircraft. People literally go just to plane-watch and chill.&nbsp;

Hands-on science + art + “please touch everything.” It’s a 50,000+ square foot interactive museum built for kids and also for adults who secretly want to play with all the exhibits. Expect STEM/STEAM stuff, water play, pretend-building, and creativity zones. It’s also expanding again because so many families go.&nbsp;

Scott Family Amazeum

Open-air shopping area with big stores, little boutiques, and “walk around with a drink and vibe” energy. It’s basically an outdoor mall with nicer landscaping, photo spots, and entertainment mixed in. Super easy “kill an afternoon” activity if you just want to stroll and shop.&nbsp;

Pinnacle Hills Promenade

This is Fayetteville’s personality. Bars, live music basically every night, neon signs, patios, vintage shops, the famous George’s Majestic Lounge, and Razorback energy from the university a block away. You can bar-hop, hear a band, grab late-night food, and just walk. It’s the area people mean when they say “let’s go out in Fayetteville.”&nbsp;

Dickson Street

If you want something a little dressy: this is the big performing arts center for the region. They bring in touring Broadway shows, comedians, live music (including jazz and big-name acts), and special events. It’s right off Dickson Street, so you can do dinner/drinks + a show in one night.&nbsp;

Walton Arts Center

Chill, pretty, and easy. This garden sits by Lake Fayetteville and has 12 themed gardens plus Arkansas’s only butterfly house. You can wander, take cute photos, and just be outside without doing a long hike. It’s very “slow morning before the wedding.”&nbsp;

BBQ &amp; SOUTHERN / COMFORT Wright’s Barbecue (Johnson • Bentonville • Rogers) — Central Texas–style smoked brisket, ribs, sausage, turkey, all done low-and-slow over wood. They started in Johnson and now they’ve got multiple locations and get talked about as one of the barbecue must-stops in Arkansas. People show up early and they do sell out of certain cuts. Tusk &amp; Trotter (Bentonville • Rogers) — Ozark comfort food with attitude: chicken &amp; waffles, pork belly, big sandwiches, brunch-y plates, cocktails. The newer Rogers location is roomy and easy for groups. Smokin’ Joe’s Ribhouse (Bentonville • Rogers) — Old-school Arkansas barbecue joint that’s been around for 25+ years serving pit-smoked ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and giant plates with all the sides. Super casual, big portions, paper towels on the table energy. BRUNCH / BREAKFAST Farmer’s Table Café (Fayetteville) — Brunch in a little converted house: local eggs, hash bowls, biscuits and gravy, grits. Very “somebody’s sweet Southern aunt cooked for you and keeps checking if you’re full.” Prelude Breakfast Bar (Fayetteville • Rogers) — Famous for pancake flights (you pick multiple flavors), bennies, and brunch cocktails. It’s walk-in only, expect a wait, totally worth it. Louise at Thaden Field (Bentonville) — All-day diner-style brunch — waffles, hashes, burgers — served literally next to a runway. You sit by floor-to-ceiling windows and small planes take off while you eat. It’s extremely “only in NWA.” ASIAN Pho Kitchen Grill &amp; Bar (Rogers) — Vietnamese comfort food + bar vibe: pho, spicy beef noodle soup, banh mi, wings, bubble tea, cocktails. Easy hang with friends. Saiwok Vietnamese Street Food (Rogers) — Vietnamese street-style bowls, bao, noodles, plus their cult pho au jus banh mi (basically brisket you dunk in pho broth). Locals love this place. Pho Thanh / Pho Thanh II (Springdale • Fayetteville) — Big bowls of pho, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, fast service, huge portions. Zero fuss, pure comfort. Pho 85 Noodle House (Bentonville) — Cozy Vietnamese spot in Bentonville for rich broth, spring rolls, and noodle soups — go-to “it’s rainy and I need soup now” place. Menya Kitakara (Springdale) — Japanese ramen shop doing Hokkaido-style ramen, gyoza, curry rice, and brothless noodles. People talk about their broth and dumplings like it’s a personality trait. House 1830 (Downtown Rogers) — Southeast Asian plates (Vietnamese / Thai / Lao) in a restored historic house. Wings, noodle bowls, herbs, sauces that actually taste like home cooking. Not watered down. Thai Spice (Springdale) — Local Thai favorite known for noodle plates, fried rice, and curries. The Springdale location is casual and easy for takeout or a relaxed dine-in. Vira’s Indian Kitchen (Bentonville) — South Indian–leaning menu: dosas, biryani, coconut-y curries, seafood, veg options. Spice levels actually exist here — not just mild tourist food. MEXICAN / TACOS / MARGARITAS Yeyo’s (Bentonville / 8th Street Market + more) — Family-run Mexican spot that started as a taco truck and now gets national attention. Real regional flavors, fresh ingredients from the family farm, and a chef who’s been up for major national awards. Local Lime (Rogers) — Modern taco + tequila place: tacos, queso, salads, bowls, house salsas, and a full margarita lineup. Easy to split stuff and linger. FINE DINING / DATE NIGHT The Hive (Bentonville) — Upscale Southern / “High South” cooking inside the 21c Museum Hotel. Local ingredients, great cocktails, and you’re literally eating surrounded by art. Feels like “we’re on a trip.” Atlas The Restaurant (Fayetteville) — Date-night, white-tablecloth, chef-y dishes and cocktails. Seasonal menu, beautiful plating, special-occasion vibe. The Preacher’s Son (Downtown Bentonville) — Dinner in a restored church with stained glass and high ceilings. Seasonal/local menu, then you can sneak downstairs to the speakeasy bar after. Ruth’s Chris Steak House (Rogers) — Classic steakhouse energy: big steaks on sizzling plates, seafood towers, and a long wine list. Good for “let’s dress nice and celebrate.” BURGERS / PIZZA / ROOFTOP / NIGHT OUT Hugo’s (Fayetteville Square) — Basement burger bar under the square since the ’70s. Burgers, hand-cut fries, beer cheese soup, crepes, and a full bar. Total Fayetteville classic. Feed &amp; Folly (Downtown Fayetteville) — Rooftop pub: sandwiches, pork belly tacos, burgers, poutine, long tap list, cocktails, and an upstairs patio with a view. Good meetup before or after Dickson Street. Wood Stone Craft Pizza (Fayetteville – Downtown &amp; Uptown) — Local wood-fired pizza, salads, cocktails, Arkansas ingredients. Two Fayetteville locations so it’s easy to gather people without everyone driving across NWA. COFFEE / DESSERT / SUGAR Onyx Coffee Lab (multiple NWA locations, HQ in Rogers) — Award-winning Arkansas roaster with gorgeous cafés, serious espresso, pastries, and sometimes cocktails. The cafés feel like someone designed them for photos on purpose. Airship Coffee @ Coler (Bentonville Trails) — Open-air coffee bar in the woods at Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. You literally walk or bike through the trees to get your latte and then hang in hammocks. Peak NWA moment. Dumont Creamery &amp; Cafe (Downtown Bentonville) — Sleek, premium ice cream shop and coffee bar right off the downtown square. Handcrafted unique flavors, custom milkshakes, and full espresso selections in a modern, clean space. Great stop for a daytime caffeine kick or a late-night sweet tooth.
